COMPANY BACKGROUND

Allied Petroleum commenced business on 1 November 1993 as a joint venture company between Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited and the H.W. Richardson Group Limited, an Invercargill based family owned Company begun by Bill Richardson. Initial operations were confined to the Canterbury region as a Distributor for Mobil to farm and commercial customers. Since then the business has increased its coverage through the South Island to Southland, Otago, Canterbury, the West Coast and Marlborough, operating as a wholesale supplier of fuels, lubricants and specialty products.

As part of its operation in the South Island Allied Petroleum continues to provide bulk fuel delivery services to Mobil Oil NZ Ltd and its major reseller and commercial sites, including Aviation fuels and Marine.

In March 2003 Allied Petroleum expanded into the North Island with the purchase of Sherwood Petroleum (based in Hastings) and Kiwi Fueline (based in Palmerston North), giving coverage from New Plymouth, through the central North Island, to Gisborne and south to the Wairarapa and Wellington regions.

During August 2004 Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited divested their shareholding in the South Island operation to the Richardson Group and it to became a wholly owned Company within the Group.

In 2010 Allied Petroleum completed the purchase of Kauriland Petroleum, this merger now gives our business a nationwide fuels delivery capability. In addition this has led to the formation of our sister company Allied Lubricants Limited, the authorised distributor of Mobil Lubricants in New Zealand.

We are a progressive company that has grown to become New Zealand's leading fuel distributor. With a fleet of modern trucks we have been awarded the ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Hauler of the year for the past 3 years, evidence of our excellence in customer service and health and safety.
